Teaching the truth of horse partnership

The Way of the Equine Warrior adopts this teaching philosophy when it comes to all horsemanship, creating global gateways to gentler horse partnership.  Understanding that “slow is fast” to gain trust and change minds for an everlasting impression, the unique nature of Way of the Equine Warrior founder Anna Twinney’s methodologies introduces individuals to the horse's silent communication - compassionate and collaborative body language, energetic connection and telepathic communication.

THE LANGUAGE OF EQUUS

Anna Twinney, a pioneer in the field of holistic horsemanship

Anna stands out as a pioneer in the field of holistic horsemanship by not using the very nature of the horse against them; instead she encourages individualism in support of elevating their true purpose.  Having discovered that the horses’ language spans beyond what the eye can see, with the masters being the horses themselves at this invisible connection, individuals are taught to take personal responsibility and a passive leadership role instead of using force, firmness, fear and blame.

With a focus on mindful movement, herd dynamics, horse psychology and reading the horse’s stress signals and relaxation signs, Anna and her certified trainers recognize and interpret behavior to create personalized programs that suit both horse and handler in any given situation.   The language of the horse is subtle, complex, varied and comprehensive and no one understands it better.  The whole horse’s mental, emotional and physical state is taken into consideration in her natural approach - and with it happy horses and handlers are born.  Anna’s program has been described as the next generation of natural horsemanship and a PhD study in the Language of Equus.

"No horse should be reprimanded, ill-treated, have malnutrition, need to be rescued, overworked or over-used. They need a voice. And I became that. In third world countries – I understand you need this horse to pull this cart. But do you also understand that if he gets proper food and water he can pull more and be there for you? Do you understand that when the saddle doesn’t fit, that the only way he can tell you is if he can’t be caught or buck? There’s no such thing as a problem horse. There’s only a horse that doesn’t understand or is in pain or is misunderstood."

IT'S A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE

The philosophy of gentle horse partnership spreads globally

Anna has flown thousands of hours and traveled to almost every continent teaching her philosophy of gentle horse partnership. From the metropolis of Beijing to inner Mongolia, she broke attendance records as the first female natural horsewoman to be invited to China. She attracted scores of TV and newspaper reporters as she supported the Chinese endurance team and the Chinese branch of the American Quarter Horse Association.  F.E.I. followed and filmed Anna in Morocco, while she graciously came to the call of the horse in Mexico to support a family in need and later found herself in the tropics of Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Meaning of Life is to Find Your Gift. The Purpose of Life is to Give it Away.

Nowhere in the world is there a place where people don’t wish to understand their horse – from the championship race horse in Dubai to the draft horse on a farm in Haiti.  But while the desire to understand may be there, the knowledge may not be, yielding, at best, an adherence to old training methods based on dominance or, worse, abuse based on ignorance. Anna has created a portal for anyone to step through who has the desire to learn, to grow within themselves and to open their minds to a true partnership with their horse.

Safia's Story

“Once you give your horse a voice, be ready and willing to hear what he has to say.”

~ Safia's favorite quote from Anna Twinney

A Journey from Morocco to Learn the Language of the Horse

My journey from Marrakech to Colorado taught me so much about myself, but most importantly about who I want to continue being in this world: a person with compassion who will never stop learning how to better be and act with horses.

My luck brought me to ROTH and to Anna Twinney, an incredibly talented and compassionate horsewoman who gives a voice to the voiceless and travels the world to teach the language of the horse. Her generosity brought me to her ranch where I had the incredible chance to intern for two years working with her horses and learning her training methodologies.

Today I am back in Morocco, having earned my certificate as a ROTH Certified Trainer. I am extremely thankful for everything that I have learned and I'm thrilled to do better for the equines in my home country.
