Anna Twinney
Before Anna became the head instructor for the school she co-developed for Monty Roberts; before she was recognized as one of the top 5% in the field of natural horsemanship; and before she travelled the world teaching the true language of the horse to those ready to listen, Anna was a policewoman in the UK. While serving, she saw firsthand the emotional suffering and scarring experienced not only by the victims but also by her colleagues on the force. And she was one of them. Granted a one-year sabbatical she opted to head to California to see if “the man who listens to horses” could teach her the language of Equus from which she might develop healing methods she could bring back to the police force and the victims they serve.
She was on the forefront of the equine coaching movement and ahead of her time. However, once Anna was introduced to the mustang, she soon realized that learning the language of the wild ones would take much more serious study.
Anna ended up staying in the United States and spent the next two decades teaching a new kind of natural horsemanship, one based on her discovery that a horse communicates in three ways – body language, energy and telepathy. She travelled the world to share her knowledge and give a voice to the horses regardless of the circumstances of their human guardians. She championed the cause of the rescues – the wild horses, the mustangs, the tribal horses, the feral feedlot foals, the Premarin and Nurse mares and their foals – giving them a second chance at life through her programs and techniques. And she created her ROTH holistic horsemanship training to ultimately teach others to do the same.
Anna’s work and her signature Reach Out to Horses® (ROTH) program have received international media coverage including F.E.I., China State TV, Martha Stewart’s “Living”, the BBC documentary “Living in the Sun”, NickerNet-work.com, the Dutch Equine Network, Horse Lifestyle and most recently EquusTV. Her programs and events go far beyond horse training and instruction. Whether students come to dance with horses or immerse themselves in the next generation of horsemanship, they will receive life-awakening and even life-changing personal growth as part of their experience. Because you cannot lie to a horse; they will reflect back to you exactly who you are.
